Falling Star Valentine #gayromance #MMromance with a twist #valentines story from @evernightpub and E. D. Parr

“When we get to my apartment, you’re telling me exactly who you are and what’s going on, or, even though you make me smile, and my heart wants you, I can’t be leaping into another relationship when I’ve only just gotten over Jack. I discovered too late he wasn’t exactly the man I thought originally.”

A smile formed on Valentine’s face as Dale spoke. His eyes filled with a loving expression. He nodded as he answered. “I will. Your heart wants me. That makes me so happy.”

Dale looked away. He smiled to himself as he stared out of the car window. Rain splattered against the glass. The cab slowed in traffic on the main street and brought into Dale’s line of vision shop windows full of hearts and Valentine’s Day gift ideas. They crawled past a candy shop with a huge red neon heart in the window. Light pulsed through the fat shape at intervals, as if beating. Is it coincidence that I meet a gorgeous but eccentric guy on Valentine’s Day, or weird? Yeah, it’s weird.

Read the preview teaser

Key’s fascinated gaze traced each part of the acrobat’s torso. The shine on his skin indicated a moisturizer of some kind and Key allowed himself to imagine smoothing it on, slipping his palms over the acrobats stomach and down the funnel of his hips. His eyes mesmerized, with dark lashes and perhaps kohl liner. Tiny twinkling stars ran over his cheekbones and across the breadth of his chest.

Key sighed as the acrobat soared in a high arc through flaming hoops as if the height and heat meant nothing to him. This man was breathtaking. Key stared and wished he could somehow meet this acrobat. The others in the troupe receded into the background for Key. When beautiful Claudio smiled at him, for a few seconds Key couldn’t breathe and then, elated, he returned the smile.

As the performance ended, Key’s spirits fell. Maybe he smiles at any audience member. It’s part of being a performer. It meant nothing. Even so, he kept that smile in his heart. Key raked the crowd with an anxious gaze for the beautiful acrobat desperate for one last sight of him. Then the man was before him—older than Key had thought—more beautiful and talking to him—touching him. This proximity affected him so much Key had to force the words from his mouth to tell the acrobat that he couldn’t speak Italian.

Will

Once upon a time, Will had sent wishes to the full moon with his howls, but what had come true for him were the slick slaps of skin against skin, stinking breath against his face, the taste of his own blood and other, unspeakable things. Will, instead of meeting a prince under the full moon, had been sold to beasts.

Will carefully turned away from the large form next to him in the bed. Everything seemed so loud in the darkness, the other man’s deep breathing, Will’s own, panicked heartbeat which had not slowed while he had waited for the small hours of the morning, refusing sleep. Will moved, inch by inch, away from the other man. Will refused to think what the other man -- Ed -- would do if he found Will sneaking out. What Ed had done was already more than Will wanted to think about.

Will had considered packing a small bag, but that would have been too dangerous. All he had dared was leave clothes under the bed, in such a way it looked incidental, forgotten laundry.

The floor was cold against Will’s naked feet. Carefully, he stood. He could say he’d just wanted to go to the bathroom if Ed woke now, but Ed was still sleeping, and so Will got his clothes, slowly pulling them up and onto his arms. He could not make too much noise. He had to get this right.

Will didn’t dare put the clothes on in the bedroom -- loup-garou hearing was sensitive. He walked through the dark house and to the kitchen, grabbing his shoes on the way. There were shards of a glass on the floor. Ed had thrown it in fury when Will had been too slow in getting Ed his beer. Will walked around the broken thing and quickly cleaned himself with a wipe. He gave one last look to the dirty dishes in the sink, then pulled on his clothes, more concerned with doing it as quietly as he could than about doing it neatly.

Before he turned the knob, he listened to the house, but it was quiet. Ed was still sleeping, and so was his pack of three, all of them loup-garous, all of them vicious. They might still hear the door, but if Will was ever going to run, then this was it.

He opened the door and crossed the threshold. Now, if they found him, they would know without a doubt that he had tried to run, and they would punish him.

Will closed the door as carefully as he could, but the mechanism made a small sound. Behind the house, the alley was dirty. Trash bags rustled in the wind, soda cans rusted and collected dirt. Will had to watch where he stepped so he didn’t make any more noise. His heart was thundering in his chest.

Out on the street, Will quickly broke into a run. He knew he had to put as much distance between himself and them, because they could shift and just hunt him down, and he couldn’t without the moon being full.

Winchester Boulevard, on foot, was quite a walk. It took Will an hour, and he ran most of the time, so when he finally got there, he was sweaty from running and trembling with the cold whenever he slowed down to catch his breath. The house he wanted had a large planter by the front door with a red and white plastic windmill in it. Ella had said the windmill would be there. It was such a silly thing, and there wasn’t even any wind to move its spokes, but Will nearly broke out in sobs with relief.

Will was scared to knock, but at this point, it was this or wait for Ed and his pack to hunt him down. And Will knew they wouldn’t just kill him. If it had been that -- if he’d known that would have been the worst he’d have to fear -- he might have given up at any point over the past four years, might have just accepted death. Everything else the loup-garous would enjoy doing to him -- that was what Will feared.

He was huffing when he stood in front of the door, but he didn’t hesitate to knock.

Will looked over his shoulder as he waited to be let in. This neighborhood was one of the nicer ones for New Elvenswood. The whole city tended to be largely clean and touristy, even if Will had never been allowed to see all that much of the place. The dilapidated house Ed and his pack had rented was the exception more than the rule as far as Will could tell.

Across the street, there was a light on in an upstairs room. Will imagined whoever was up was awake at this hour because of their own choosing. He imagined they were working late or maybe just reading. Just living their life. Will hadn’t lived in such a long time. All he’d been doing since he’d met Ed had been surviving.

The door opened, and Will flinched.

“Yes?” the vampire asked.

Will had known it would be a vampire, but still. This one, his sheer presence absolutely spoke to Will’s wolf nature, and the vampire’s demeanor made Will want to show his belly and submit. He was stunning to behold too, but in a sharp way: almost white-blond hair, icy eyes that had a hard darkness to them, a thin mouth set in a pale face.

With a last shallow breath, Will forced the words he’d prepared in his head out of his mouth. “Ella said you can help people in trouble. I… there’s a pack of loup-garous, and I need to get away from them. I can’t pay you, but I’ll do what you want. I’ll work for you.”

Will’s voice nearly gave out on the last part, because he started shaking violently. It occurred to Will that the vampire looked like a Viking, and his cold eyes were growing only more glacial in their regard. Will doubted the man had laughed for more than a minute in the last hundred years. And he wore nice clothes, really nice clothes. Will knew the vampire was a lawyer, but he felt silly now for asking for help. He expected the vampire to tell him to go and fuck off, just with nicer words.

“Come inside,” the vampire said instead and opened the door wider.

Aiden's about to be mortally wounded, but an angel watches from an apartment balcony. Can he get to Aiden in time to save his life? #gay #paranormalromance #adventure #MMromance #LGBT #ThrowbackThursday #giveaway

Aiden Flint goes on vacation with three friends to Pamplona, Spain. Seeking excitement, they will run with the bulls in the festival of St. Fermin. As the four friends enjoy the nightlife, they notice an attractive man watching Aiden in the bars they visit. In the warmth and heady atmosphere of the exotic city, Aiden takes a chance and approaches the handsome man.

Enigmatic Santiago Arista is sexy, kind, desperate for love, and achingly lonely. He’s just about given up on finding love, until one warm, summer night, sitting alone in a bar, he sees gorgeous Aiden. He’s elated when Aiden joins him at his table.

Deep attraction swirls between them. At the end of the night when they share a kiss, Aiden can’t believe the bliss that enfolds him, but have both men found someone to love just when fate is about to throw Aiden into mortal danger?

Read a Chapter teaser in #throwbackThursday

Darkness characterized Santiago’s earthbound world. He lived in it and with it weighing heavy in his heart. Centuries passed without a break in his solitariness. He no longer used his special gifts. He left weeks between his visits to the markets, until hunger forced him out for fruit and bread. He ventured into the nightlife less and less, convinced he’d never find a companion to ease his loneliness in venues he’d haunted for decades.

Then one night, driven by despair into the bars dotting the Spanish city where he currently dwelt, Santiago laid eyes on a man whose looks set his thoughts and heart racing. Who is he? How can I meet him? Could he ever want to know a sorry soul like me? He is beautiful.

Santiago sat with his vodka melting the crushed ice in the tall glass he favored and always ordered. He gazed at the young man with yearning growing in his heart until he ached. Santiago named him “dear heart” so that he could daydream that they were together, a couple—lovers.

Dear heart sat with his friends, but on that first night he glanced at Santiago a few times, his clear blue eyes searching Santiago’s face. When dear heart visited the restroom, he openly stared at Santiago, and in his gaze, Santiago read interest, sexual attraction—pure need.

Long empty of positive emotions, Santiago’s heart filled with hope. He hardly took his eyes from dear heart. He savored every contour of muscle beneath the young man’s t-shirt, and sighed over dear heart’s thick, dark hair, wishing he could run his fingers through the softness. When his chosen one left the bar with his friends, Santiago followed, to the next bar, and then the next, until dear heart smiled at him as he passed where Santiago set up his watch, holding a chilled glass in his equally cold hand. The smile warmed Santiago as nothing ever had. Amazed, he left it too late to return the smile—dear heart and his friends disappeared onto the night street thronging with vacationers.

Santiago combed the bars each night thereafter until he found where dear heart drank a beer with his friends. Then he would sit and soak up the sight of the beautiful stranger, desperate to talk to him, but afraid of rejection.

“That guy’s staring at you again, Aiden.” John jogged his elbow, forcing a wave of golden beer to slap on the side of the slender glass he carried. Drops flew into the air headed for the colorful tiled floor, and Aiden steadied his pace so as not to spill more.

His friend raced ahead to the other two men in their vacation party.

“Wait, you two.”

Aiden stole a glance over his shoulder at the man John had mentioned. Bright eyes captured his gaze. Aiden’s stomach clenched. Mystery, sex, and attraction radiated from the handsome man. Aiden’s mouth dried up. He tore himself away and hurried to the table where his friends sat laughing.

“He’s interested in you for sure. Crap, he’s still staring.” Noel leaned forward giving Aiden a wide-eyed, and yet salacious grin.

Jason put down his beer and punched Aiden lightly on the upper arm. He used his pet name for his friend. “Why not approach him, Aidey? There’s no one in your life. How many times have you bleated about your single status in the last six months? Have a holiday romance.”

Aiden’s shoulders drooped. He was the only single guy in his small group of friends and the only gay guy. He knew Jason was sincere, but Noel and John often made fun of him. Not malicious fun, but a gentle constant teasing that sometimes wearied him. Noel used it to mask his tendency to homophobia. John was the friendship group’s clown. Aiden picked up the beer he’d placed on the table and sipped at it.

In a day’s time, on the seventh of July, the first “running with the bulls” event would take place. The friends had come to participate in the Saint Fermin summer festival in Pamplona, and intended running with the bulls as many times as their nerve let them. Noel had raised the idea one night as they met for a meal and drinks in their favorite bistro. He’d lamented his mundane existence, and somehow the others in the group had commiserated enough for them all to agree to vacation in Spain that coming summer expressly to run with the bulls.

Aiden blinked away his trepidation at actually fulfilling the now imminent intention. He put down his beer, and in an attempt to chase away his fears, he turned and smiled at the gorgeous man whose stare just about penetrated his denim shirt.

Astonishment spread on the man’s face, and then he returned a shy smile.

Aiden took a deep breath, summoning his nerve. He stood, gave his friend Jason a tiny wave, and walked to the man’s table.
