Angel Starc is Given Time in #midweek #teasers #gayromance #MMromance @parr_books @evernightpub

Midweek Teasers
Given Time

Angel sipped the glass of water, absently gazing around the room at the other diners without really seeing them, until his eyes met those of a man a few tables away. A shock of some emotion ran down Angel’s back. His thoughts tumbled as he struggled to recall where he’d seen this man. The breadth of the man’s shoulders and the thick well-cut hair was resoundingly familiar. He stared without realizing into the dark eyes of the sexy stranger.

A slow smile appeared on the hunk’s lips. His eyes held an invitation.

Angel’s stomach lurched. He was so out of practice he didn’t know if this was a gay guy sending signals, or another of his brother’s fans showing sympathy from across the room. Angel tore his gaze away. As much as he’d craved the chance to meet a romantic partner in the last year, he didn’t know what to do right then. When the server turned up with his steak, gratitude flooded Angel. He could hide behind eating his meal.

He studiously cut up his steak and took a bite. The meat melted in a mouthful of flavor. Angel ate a little more and toyed with his salad. Without thinking, he flicked his gaze across the room. The handsome man stared at him. Angel’s heart pounded alarmingly. He looked away.

He gazed across the leaf-strewn road. The ornamental gates were closed. Bunches of flowers and wreaths lay on the sidewalk. People had already begun to pay their respects and display their sadness. As Angel slumped in his car seat, reliving memories he’d hoped never to, a few people wandered along and left more flowers outside the gate. I had no idea Rory was so loved. He was such a grouch … well, to me, to Samantha…

The late afternoon sky grew dark gray. The occasional splatter of rain, carried on the wind, hit the windscreen. Angel was about to exit his car and brave entering the house, when a man walked up to the gate carrying flowers. Tall and dressed in black jeans, boots, and an obviously expensive knee length black overcoat, he was both strikingly fashionable and suitably somber. He laid the flowers with the other tributes to Rory Starc.

Angel flicked his gaze up and down the figure. From the well-cut thick dark hair to the tips of his toes, the man radiated elegance. He turned and even from across the street, Angel could see how handsome he was. Who is he? Intrigued, Angel watched the man walk away along to the end of the road where he turned the corner, and Angel lost sight of him with a sigh. It wasn’t every day that Angel saw a man he’d like to meet romantically, and it was a sad thing that it was on the day of his brother’s death.

Will he join me? Let him take the chance. It’s time I had someone in my life. #teaser time #MMromance #gayromance @evernightpub

Teaser Time from MM romance Given Time

Matt cradled the whisky glass in his hand for a few seconds. His heartbeat sped up as anticipation flooded him. The handsome man who’d sat alone and ate little fascinated him. Matt knew the guy stared without seeing for a while, and then the eye contact when he saw Matt, was electrifying. No one had ever looked at Matt that way. The sheer sexual hunger and loneliness in those pale eyes forced a shock of attraction to spark along his stomach muscles. There was no mistake. This handsome man was gay. Matt swished his drink around and the ice cubes clinked in the glass. Will he join me? Let him take the chance. It’s time I had someone in my life.

Matt forced himself to lean casually on the bar. He put down the glass. His hand shook. Fucking calm down. He might not come. He probably won’t. It was a bad idea to send a note. Who do I think I am, some movie character? Matt felt rather than saw his quarry approach. His mouth went dry. He suddenly wanted the beautiful Italian tiled floor to open up and let him fall into the hole where failed attempts at finding love littered the black chasm.

“I got your note. Thank you … for sending it … I asked for my coffee to be sent in. Would you like a cup of coffee … or another drink?”

Matt’s entire body reacted to the low, halting tones of the man’s voice. Relief and fear flooded him. He sent a silent request into the ether, which generally fed him premonitions. Don’t let me mess this up. He straightened and faced the man taking in every facet—pale green eyes, like the shallow water lapping at a tropical beach, the sort of handsome face that usually carried guys into a modeling career, and wavy dark hair that Matt itched to run his fingers through. His stomach clenched and a strange melting feeling gathered between his legs. Fucking hell, he’s amazing.

Matt tried a smile hoping it didn’t manifest as a grimace.
“Hi. Matt Loewe. Thanks for showing up.” What? Thanks for showing up, hell.

“Angel Starc, pleased to meet you.” The gorgeous man held out his hand.

Surprised by the Starc name, and how stupid he probably sounded, Matt hesitated to take the handshake, and then he grasped the cool strong hand. A moment of extreme connection made him widen his eyes at Angel. Matt’s ‘mysteriousness’ ignited and he felt as if he knew this man, or, ridiculous as it seemed to his common sense right then, that they belonged together.

Angel’s gaze locked with his and Matt saw the dark pupils expand over the sea-green eyes. Emotions ranged there, too, and Matt responded to the apparent attraction and kindness, trying to sound more in control.

“I mean, I hoped you’d meet me. Let me get you something to go with the coffee—cognac maybe?” He forced the tremor from his voice.

Angel took a deep breath. “Tell you what. I’ll order whisky and coffee for us both and you grab that table in the corner.”

Matt cast a glance toward the corner of the room. He turned his face to Angel Starc.
“Sure.” He left his glass on the bar, and attempted a saunter to the table for two, set up next to twin Kentia palms in huge terracotta pots. Still completely shaken by this turn of events, where not only had he encountered a guy he was intensely attracted to, the guy’s eyes reflected the emotion, Matt sat and loosened his tie. He’s Angel Starc, though. In this town, he has to be a relative of Rory Starc. Take it easy. He watched Angel talking with the bartender. His heart did a weird thump as Angel walked toward the table, gave him a smile like sunshine on a winter’s day, and sat opposite him.

About Given Time

I wrote this story intending to dedicate it to someone in the front of the book when the publisher asked if I had a dedication. In fact, I didn’t when given the chance, because it no longer seemed appropriate. (It might have looked as if I rode on the back of this person's success.)
The inspiration for the story came last Christmas when I went to stay with friends in another county, but one that I know very well and have lived in. Just like Matt in the story I was shocked and deeply saddened when a much-loved celebrity suddenly died on Christmas Day. I’d followed this artist’s work for years and, because he was a musician, the lyrics and his songs had often lifted me from sadness.
Like many others I wandered off to the house the person lived and died in, which was just a couple of miles away in the next village. I sat in my car watching the parade of people placing tributes along the wall of the house.

The core of the inspiration came from seeing a lone man approach as fog descended on the long pathway. He was tall, slender, dressed stylishly from head to foot in black, and he carried a bunch of white lilies that he placed beside other flowers. His melancholy exuded from his elegant movements. The sight struck me and I couldn’t put it out of my mind as the circumstances surrounding the  death of this musician was reported in the news for weeks.
I know a little about the deceased’s life, and know sadness surrounding his love-life was often woven into his songs. I wrote the story for him … for him to have a happy ending. If that sounds weird, then that’s okay … he gave me, and still does, such pleasure through his music.
The story isn’t about a musician. It’s about life and love. There are a number of scorching hot love scenes in the story, which I enjoyed writing for the two heroes, Matt and Angel, who after hoping for love, finally find it.
Thank you to the late and beautiful George Michael whose album Older saved me a few times from despair.
Thank you, also, to the unknown, gorgeous man who laid lilies outside the big old house.

Angel took Matt through the side entrance to the grounds, avoiding the flower-laden front gate. He cast a half-smile at the man beside him. “I don’t want to wreck any bouquets and wreaths clambering over them.” The feeling that he’d not shown enough grief rose in him. He tried to shake it off.
Matt’s gentle smile soothed him a little.
He unlocked the door and threw it open. “Come on in, Matt. We’ll make some coffee and rifle through Rory’s study.”

Matt followed him into the house.

Angel led the way to the big family kitchen. The mug and jar of instant coffee stood on the counter where he’d left them the day before. He added more water to the electric kettle and set it to boil. As he brought another mug from the wall cupboard where Rory kept the crockery, a wave of gratitude made him smile. It’s great to have Matt with me.

Matt wandered to the small corridor that led to the back door and then came to stand close. He exuded calm.

Angel turned to him. “Thank you for being here. Can I hug you?”

Matt broke into a huge smile. “Can you? Hell, I’m desperate to feel you in my arms. Come here.” He held out his arms.

Angel went into his embrace. He pushed close to Matt with a sigh of pleasure. He pressed his face against Matt’s. The shade of stubble on Matt’s jaw rasping on his skin, and the feel of Matt’s hard muscled chest he molded to combined to send streaks of pleasure tripping all the way through his body. Angel breathed in the masculine energy that bathed Matt. He turned his face and kissed near the side of Matt’s mouth.

Matt lifted a hand and slid it along Angel’s face. He grazed his lips against Angel’s in a soft brush as he whispered. “You feel good.” He kissed Angel, his mouth a soft merging of sensation that hardened Angel’s cock.

Angel closed his eyes and returned the kiss, taking another until they both broke away to breathe. “So do you—feel good.” He opened his eyes. “Bet the water’s boiled.” He wanted Matt, but the prickle of guilt about being happy when he was there for such a somber occasion forced him to push away.
Matt loosened his hold. His eyes held desire and his erection bulged in his black jeans.
Angel tore his gaze from the enticing sight. “I’ll switch the central heating on. I reckon there’ll be food in the fridge. We never had breakfast. Are you hungry?”

Matt laughed. “Sure, maybe not for food…”

He took the hotel suite key from Matt and opened the door where Matt stopped.

Matt went in and Angel followed. He didn’t give Matt a chance to change his mind. He grabbed Matt’s shoulders and pushed him against the wall. As soon as Angel pressed his body to Matt’s, a surge of desire forced his eyes closed. He brought his mouth to Matt’s kissable lips and grazed them. “Just this touch is reducing me to mush.”

He kissed Matt, gently, soaking up the feel of Matt’s skin against his nose. He thrust his hips so that his lower body crushed on Matt’s and the unmistakable shape of Matt’s cock, hard and bulging in his pants met Angel’s cock. A low groan escaped Angel and he deepened the kiss, clinging to Matt, as his legs weakened and his heart pounded.

Matt pushed his arms around Angel’s neck, and Angel’s hands fell away from the grip on his shoulders. Matt’s murmur penetrated Angel’s haze of pleasure. “I can’t even think straight, but I know I want you naked in my arms.” He rained kisses on Angel’s mouth.

Angel pushed his hands between their bodies. He traced Matt’s erection with his fingertips and then cupped it in his palm, pressing against the fabric of Matt’s pants.

Matt’s groan on Angel’s lips sent a shock of desire through his balls.

Angel opened Matt’s pants in a rapid move and thrust them down his thighs. He dragged Matt’s boxers down and grabbed his cock. The rock-hard column filled his fist and extended inches over it. He sighed out the pleasure the feeling gave him, kissing Matt hungrily. Angel’s cock strained against his pants and his stomach clenched so tight it made him breathless.

“Take off your clothes.” Matt’s urgent whisper teased on Angel’s lips.

Angel hurried to comply. He slid his hand from Matt’s cock taking with it the pulse of pre-cum that leaked from the slit. He licked his finger gazing into Matt’s eyes.

Matt gasped as he watched. He dragged off his jacket and pulled his tie from around the collar of his shirt. Practically wrenching the buttons from his shirt, he yanked it down his arms.

Angel gazed at him, taking off his jacket and shirt as he savored the sight of Matt’s muscled torso, and the way Matt’s perfect cock bounced as he moved. Matt was already naked and Angel went to him. He grabbed his ass and pulled him close. “Fucking hell, you are so hot, and it’s been so long for me I might come just looking at you.” He kissed Matt.

Matt’s response made his cock jerk. The passion in his kiss scorched down Angel’s stomach. He escaped Matt’s lips with a groan and pulled off his pants, levering off his boots as quickly as he could.

Matt ran his hands along Angel’s ass.
Angel jerked upright and spun around.
Matt’s eyes darkened and he held out his arms.

Angel rammed his body on Matt’s and they crashed together, murmuring hoarse sounds. Matt’s cock rubbed on Angel’s and he rocked his hips so that the hard columns slid along each other. His chest felt tight as his lower body clenched with the need to come.

“I might fucking fall down if I don’t come soon.” He whispered into Matt’s ear and sucked on the lobe. A soft herb scent filled his head as a fine film of sweat drifted from Matt’s glossy hair. He rubbed his face in it. The sheer maleness emitting from Matt made him weak at the knees. He thrilled with the feel of a man in his arms.

Matt struggled to turn his face, and kissed Angel. “I feel the same. This is killing me. I’m fucking desperate.”

Angel grabbed Matt’s hands and led him in a rapid pace to the bed. He pushed Matt down and leaned over him. “We can fuck each other’s mouths. I want your cock slipping on my tongue. I need to taste cum, to rub my face on your skin, against your balls—I’ve missed the feel of a guy so much.”
Matt pushed his fingers into Angel’s hair and pulled his head down to his own. “Yes…” He whispered on Angel’s lips. His hard kiss made Angel groan, and then Matt shifted along the bed and brought his face to Angel’s lower stomach. He ran his tongue the length of Angel’s cock.
Angel winced, the pleasure exquisite as he ached to orgasm. He curled his body to nuzzle into Matt’s balls and kissed along Matt’s cock. He licked the leaking cum from the slit, and then sucked the helmet head into his mouth.

Matt grabbed Angel’s cock low on the shaft and brought the remaining length into the tight wet O of his lips.

Sensation zinged along Angel’s body. His eyes closed shut. His hips moved in time to Matt’s sucks on his cock. He held Matt’s thighs and slid Matt’s cock in and out of his mouth.

Matt increased his suck on Angel’s cock before he let go of the shaft. He ran his hands down the length of Angel’s body and grasped fistfuls of Angel’s hair. Matt’s hips hammered his cock between Angel’s lips.

Angel sagged against the wall and looked up at Matt. He pushed the letter into Matt’s hand. Right then he couldn’t speak. He was numb.

Matt didn’t read the letter. He shoved it under his thumb that secured the sheaf of newspaper cuttings in his hand. He grabbed Angel and crushed him close.

Angel pressed into Matt’s embrace. He pushed his face into Matt’s neck. The warmth and comfort of his lover’s skin soothed him. The familiar light herbal scent from Matt’s shower gel filled his head and Angel closed his eyes. It felt like coming home when Matt held him. He was safe in Matt’s arms. They belonged together. Some of the words in Rory’s note echoed in his mind. One of my strange hunches…

Matt ran his hand along Angel’s back and held the back of his neck. The touch sent tingles down Angel’s spine. He lifted his head to look into Matt’s eyes.
“I wouldn’t have found this. I glanced at the jacket hanging there and it never crossed my mind to check it. How long have you known there was something in the pocket?”

Matt’s eyes glistened with tears. “A day, well, a little longer...”

Angel knew there was more. Love burst over him like melting honey. He couldn’t push for whatever else there was. A tear escaped from one eye and ran down his face. He smiled at Matt. “Thanks for finding it. I think I need a drink. What about you?”

Matt kissed the tear as it reached Angel’s jaw and then brushed his lips gently on Angel’s mouth. “Let’s go back to the hotel and down a couple of whiskies.”

Angel shook his head. “ I don’t have your phone number.”

Matt took out his cell phone. “I don’t have yours.” His eyes twinkled.

Angel gave him the number and smiled as his phone beeped in his hand when Matt messaged him. “Can I call you, when I’ve dealt with a few things? We could have dinner. I feel as if I’ve dragged you around all the sad corners this morning. I want to be with you tonight as if … as if…”

Matt’s expression held tenderness. “As if we’re lovers … and we are, even if it’s new.”

Relief flooded Angel. He immediately knew that’s what he wanted badly. “Yes.” His voice came out a whisper. He pushed his arms around Matt’s neck and rested his forehead on Matt’s. Happiness blanketed him. Matt’s light herbal cologne filled his head. Matt’s lips a fraction away from his were a sweet temptation. The way they fit against each other felt so right. Calm crept over Angel. He kissed Matt gently, pushing down the urge to ravage him with kisses that would lead to sex. His cock jerked all the same and he thrust his hips against Matt’s hard body. The column of his cock met the bulge in Matt’s pants and he smiled. “Hell, Matt, I can’t help wanting to fuck you hard.”

Finally, when no one was in sight, Angel exited his car and strode across the street. He punched in the last PIN he knew for entry through the gates. A flicker of surprise made him raise his eyebrows as the gates swung open. He’d expected Rory to have changed the code. Angel walked in and closed the gates behind him. He’d use another entrance for the car. He didn’t want to crush the flowers and wreaths. Angel walked around the house to the side entrance. His heart pounded inexplicably as he unlocked the door and went into the short corridor. Rory’s muddy boots lay strewn on the floor and Angel bent to straighten them, placing them upright alongside the tall, whitewashed vase that served as an umbrella stand. He passed the coat hooks where an old sheepskin jacket hung. It reminded him of walks with Rory along the riverbank.

Angel turned into the kitchen. It shone with chrome and spotlessly clean, pale granite countertops. He walked around it. The antique oak table used as a kitchen meeting and eating place held a small bowl of mandarins. He checked the larder for instant coffee. After putting water to boil in the electric kettle, Angel walked around the downstairs rooms. Nothing had changed since he was last in the house. It made his heart ache. He went up the backstairs to the studio extension. The same cold smell of clay and expectation wafted around the main workroom. The skylight was open and he wound the handle on the wall below to close it. A smattering of rain had slipped in through the narrow rectangular opening and patterned the tiled floor beneath with wet stars.
