Tom sank his head onto Scott’s shoulder. He slipped his hand onto Scott’s thigh.
“I want to know you. I want that mask off. I want to see you. Who are you, because you’re not the guy I thought you were originally. It wasn’t you who sucked me off on the night of the first masquerade party.”
Scott’s stomach lurched. Just as he feared, someone did have sex with Tom. That’s what Tom had meant with all the references to “this time” when they’d been in the storeroom. His jealousy spiked and made his tone harsh as he answered. “I think the sex is hot because you don’t know me—because of the masks.” He didn’t mean it. It was just something to say.
Tom lifted his head and slid his hand along Scott’s jaw. He brought Scott’s face to his, kissed him, and whispered. “I’m not wearing a mask.”
Scott didn’t answer. He returned Tom’s kiss. The meaning in Tom’s words thrilled him.
Tom tunneled his fingers into Scott’s hair and gazed into his eyes. “How did you know who was under the mask at the last event, so that you could arrange this? There are other male servers.”
Worry spiked down Scott’s spine. “No one looks like you. Your body, the way you move, it’s unmistakable.”
Tom smiled and ran his hand up and down Scott’s side. “Yeah, I like you, too.”
Scott didn’t know how to carry on. He looked away.
Tom held his hand. “Hey, wait for me to finish my shift. Come home with me. We could fuck, talk, and have breakfast together. Time to unmask because we have obvious sexual chemistry and there’s tenderness in your kiss, don’t deny it.”
Scott couldn’t do it. He wondered about the first masquerade party and the guy who’d sucked Tom off then. It was suddenly clear that Tom had approached him the night he’d been at the second masquerade party because Tom thought the other man had returned.
“Did you have chemistry with the first guy?”
Tom gave Scott a look that bordered on hurt. “I don’t think so … no, no I didn’t. He was out to get me. I succumbed because I needed the sex. I work long hours and honestly, I don’t get much sex. I thought you were him because you wore the same mask, but not now.”
Scott stroked Tom’s wrist and arm. He shifted so that he could bring Tom into his embrace. “I didn’t mean…”
Tom cut him off. “The other guy, he’s not all that great in reality. I saw him again here in the club with a girl, and he was unpleasant when I spoke to him. It made me feel bad about … about things, but it also made me realize there was someone else. You, in fact…”
Scott kissed him softly. He breathed in the slight woody scent of Tom’s cologne. He soaked up the feel of Tom’s skin and rubbed his jaw on Tom’s shade of stubble.
“I’ve kept you away from work long enough. Better dress.”
He stood and dressed as fast as he could.
Tom dressed quickly, too.
He held Scott’s waist. “I mean it. Wait for me. Just stand at the end of the bar where I first saw you, around two a.m. and tell me, tell me you’re there for me, although I’d know your body anywhere now, and those lips ... yeah...” He grinned.
Scott’s stomach dipped. He couldn’t speak a lie, but he gave a tiny nod, knowing he wouldn’t do it, but not wanting to tell Tom. Exactly why he couldn’t rip off the mask and let Tom know his identity was a mystery to him then. He took Tom to the door and showed him out with a kiss.
Scott had never used a room like this before. He tried to remember the process for vacating it that Charlie had told him when he joined. He made sure he’d not dropped anything and went to the door. It was only then he noticed the surveillance dials on the wall. Too late to turn anything down or off ... oh well… Alongside was a small printed sign. It displayed the instructions for leaving the room.
He flicked the small catch across on the inside of the door, checked that the words, ‘Ready for Cleaning,’ showed in the space on the outside, and let the door swing shut. Scott pondered how the green light changed to red for occupied or needing cleaning as he made his way along the corridor to the main room. Must be on some sort of automatic switch or maybe it’s linked to the surveillance or the door catch... Music became louder. Scott gave up thinking about it. He slipped the mask off and stuffed it into his jacket pocket. He half-expected Tom to be lurking at the corridor entrance to catch him sneaking away, but only a man and woman leaned on the wall there making out.

Scott walked quickly to the exit and out into the night air. The sunny day had given way to a crystal clear night, cool and sparkling. Scott admitted to himself that he was already so emotionally invested in Tom that he needed to take courage and tell Tom who he was. How could a half-mask make any real difference to my appearance? He asked himself as he drove home. Scott sat in his parked car outside his apartment block deep in thought. What am I afraid of? I don’t know. Tom already wants to see me without the mask. Maybe it’s because I just couldn’t take it if he didn’t love me, because I think I love him. Yeah, I’m in love with him. Fuck, that’s so dangerous. The best thing I can do, now I know he’s gay, is make some kind of pass at him as myself, when I deliver to the club. That’s what I’ll do. I’ll ask him out.

On a modeling assignment in New York, Justin sees Chris in a cafĂ© and can’t help contacting him, but his ex, Todd, who doesn’t want Justin but doesn’t want Chris to have him either, has plans to throw their reunion into disarray.
So begins a love story full of emotion. Will Todd succeed? Or this time, will Justin and Chris have the happy ending and delicious love they deserve?

A second chance gay romance with a touch of suspense
Available on Kindle December 1 and in print later
5 star MM romance
Hawk v Falcon is a second chance romance and that thrilled me since that is one of my favorite tropes! This story is wonderfully sexy without being over the top but that is not all it is.

Chris and Justin connect in a super charged way. The game of cat and mouse with these two is fantastic. Though it's charged, it's like the refreshing rush you feel with a static charge. I hope that makes sense. They felt on the cusp of exploding and that made their moment just right.

Elodie Parkes is unique in her writing because she really makes her readers work for that HEA. You're not 40% into the book and they are all lovey dovey and you have to endure fluff for the next 60% of the time. No no no! That's not how this works.

This became a very emotional book. Justin's past is utterly heartbreaking and the last decade hasn't been easy for him. Now, after all that; Justin's crazy ex-boyfriend is hellbent on removing Chris from Justin's life. I told you it wouldn't be easy.

This is a suspenseful, emotional, love story. Elodie Parkes truly knocked it out of the park in all the areas here. I recommend this book completely!
AND
The author gave us a bit of everything – stalkerish MC, insta-love, hot salacious sex scenes, a well thought out plot, a bit of angst and a masked and unmasked love story. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to see what this author has up her writers sleeve next?

First of the month first chapter from #MMromance Love Unmasked @EncompassInk #LGBT #gayfiction

Love Unmasked
At the Candy Apple
Chapter One

“Where’s the usual guy?” Tom Wells signed for the alcohol delivery on the PDA, and then stepped back into the shelter of the overhanging roof at the back entrance of the Candy Apple. Rain fell in sheets from a sky so gray it turned early morning into twilight.
The man before him slipped the electronic device under his yellow rain jacket and answered as he turned to leave. “Taken ill—it’s serious by all accounts—might not be back for a long time, if ever. Did you know him well?”
Concern put a frown between Tom’s eyes. “Not really, but Joe’s been delivering here for years. All the time I’ve managed the bar, in fact. I hope he gets better. Will you be doing his rounds in future?”
“Nah, just today, there’ll be a new guy next week. He’s taking over from Joe.” He pulled the peak of his baseball cap down a little as a gust of wind threatened to take it from his head. “I’ll get going. Have a good one.” He spun around and sprinted to the truck parked in the narrow entrance of the delivery yard.
As the guy hauled ass into the drivers’ seat, the wet yellow jacket glimmered when a car sped by with its headlights on full beam in the dirty weather. The truck roared into life, trundled onto the sidewalk, and then joined the stream of traffic as the lights changed at the intersection allowing the buildup of commuters to forge on toward their workplaces.
Tom closed the door, and went to update the inventory, before he drove home to get some rest before his evening shift started.
He’d been at the Candy Apple for five years. He hadn’t meant to stay so long. Tom had taken bar work to pay his student loans and rent until he found employment in his chosen field after graduation. The recession threw him off track. Openings were few and he missed out on winning an appointment. Little by little it ceased to matter to Tom as he enjoyed more responsibility and eventually became the bar manager. His parents were disappointed, but that was nothing new. Tom had learned how to shield himself from his dad’s barbs early in life. Tom thought it weird that when it became obvious to his parents he’d settled into the hospitality trade, they paid off his loans. Then they retired to Costa Rica.
Tom was content with his life. He loved his job. He had a good car. He lived in a renovated apartment, one of three in a huge converted house. The only thing he didn’t have, and occasionally wished for, was love. Tom could easily get casual sex. He didn’t often have a night off, but when he did, if he needed sex, he’d find it at a different nightclub. Tom didn’t mix work with pleasure even though he’d received advances in the Candy Apple.
With the inventory updated and new bottles of bourbon and vodka inserted into the dispensers behind the bar, Tom called the main office on the internal phone.
“Charlie, I’m about to leave. Do you need anything?” He could hear the smile in her tone of voice as she answered.
“I’m good sweetie, off you go. See you later.”
“Yeah, see you later.” He grabbed his jacket from the stockroom bench, and pulled it on as he left by the back door, knowing the club owner, Charlie, would see him on the video surveillance camera. The door locked behind him and only those with a key and a code could get in.
Tom climbed into his truck, an old Ford five hundred he’d restored with the help of a college buddy. He’d spent many mornings in his friend’s parent’s huge garage as they worked on the car. Then another friend, Jeremy, had spray painted it crystal black. Jeremy had a business doing custom spray painting. Tom drove home against the traffic thankful he wasn’t heading to some high-rise office for a day’s work.
His apartment building had a carport at the back where each tenant was allocated two spaces. The couple in the top floor apartment rented their spaces out. They told Tom he should rent out his second allocation in the carport and earn a small fortune in the parking spot starved city, but Tom used it to house his bikes, bits, and pieces. He slipped the truck smoothly into the carport wondering if he should have called into the market for supplies.
He let himself into his apartment, tossing his keys onto the hall table as he passed, and then deposited his jacket on a chair. He headed for the fridge and hung off the door checking out the contents, but then he decided to shower before he ate.
As he showered, he sang. Tom loved to sing. His friends had urged him to take it up professionally, but Tom didn’t believe in himself enough to do that. He wrapped a huge towel around his muscled body and padded to his bed. Maybe he’d lie down for a few minutes before he made a sandwich. Tom threw off his towel and pulled the quilt up over his waist. He closed his eyes thinking about Friday, his designated monthly full day off work. He’d arranged to meet friends at the sailing club for the first outing this spring, but if the filthy weather kept up, they’d forgo it. Tom organized the duty roster. The days were rotated so that no staff member missed having a Friday or a weekend day. He liked to be fair to everyone. His thoughts drifted and he fell asleep.

This man had the air of a predator. He was wolf-like. #MMromance @EncompassInk #teaserThursday

Love Unmasked
At the Candy Apple

Scott twisted around. He faced one of the most attractive guys he’d seen for a long time, if he didn’t count Tom. He took in the chiseled jaw and perfect lips of the dark haired and sultry eyed man standing close. Scott compared the man’s looks to Tom’s as he answered. “Not really new. I’m an infrequent visitor.” Scott preferred Tom’s blue eyes. He liked the way Tom had a dimple in one cheek when he smiled. Tom was sweeter. This man had the air of a predator. He was wolf-like. The thought made Scott smile and the man must have thought the smile was for him.
“You don’t come here often? Maybe I can remedy that. You have a perfect ass, made for fucking.”
A spike of shock went through Scott’s stomach, but his cock stirred at the words. He pushed away the sexual feeling. I don’t want this guy. I want Tom.
The man held out his hand. “Pleased to meet you. I don’t do names, but I do like sucking cocks now and again. Bet yours is sweet. You’re so pretty bet you taste like honey.”
Scott stared at the guy in awe. He’d been approached before of course in gay bars, but there was something insincere about this man. Scott didn’t even want to shake hands with this man and ignored the outstretched hand. He suddenly felt disgust, but then his sense of humor kicked in. “Have I got a sign pinned to my back saying ‘gay guy’?”
The man’s eyes grew darker.
The server had placed the spring water on the bar for Scott.
The man waved at it. “Let me get you a real drink.”
“I’m driving, thanks.”

The nameless man grinned at Scott. “I know you’re gay. I’ve seen you with the hot barman, talking, but obviously in love. Come to a room with me and I’ll teach you what love is.”

Who is kissing who? Who’s under the black velvet mask?
An erotic MM romance, with a twist, and an HEA.

Hi Tom, welcome to the blog
Hi, thank you for inviting me to talk with you and your readers today.

Tell us a little bit about yourself
Well I’m the bar manager in the Candy Apple. I also serve there. That’s fun, actually.

What’s the club like ... who goes there?
The club caters for a wide cross section of society and every so often, Charlie, the owner and my boss, holds special events. The story features an event.

How would you describe yourself?
You mean looks? Well—tall, dark hair, blue eyes. I like to work out. If you mean personality, I’m a happy person in general, tolerant, accepting...

What do you like in a man as a boyfriend? (He smiles.)
Huh, now I’ve met Scott I won’t be looking for anyone else, but he’s exactly what I do like. He’s around the same height as me, muscled, dark hair, a little longer than mine, gray eyes that are so sexy, and in fact, he’s completely sexy.

Since you’ve fallen into describing Scott, tell us about him
He’s great. He’s loving and caring. He’s clever and works hard. He loves music like me, and working out. He’s special. Scott will always work things out and talk about stuff. I love him.

What’s hot about the story?
Hell, just about every love scene and then there’s the twist. It’s our story, Scott’s and mine ... our journey to love, but even I didn’t see it coming. I guess deep down I wanted love and I didn’t know how much until a few things happened.

Okay let’s have some quick questions
Lights on or off? (Tom starts laughing.)
Either and both.

Jeans or a suit?
Of course that depends on where I’m going. I wear both, doesn’t everyone, but if you’re asking what’s my favorite, it’s jeans.

Vanilla or chocolate?
Can I say strawberry?

Boxers or briefs? (He grins)
I own both styles. Commando’s a favorite in summer.

Favorite color
Really? Er ... blue

Favorite music
Not even a chance of answering that because I love so many styles of music, wait not jazz. My dad used to listen to jazz, old stuff. I couldn’t like it.
Sum up being gay in a sentence. (He looks surprised)

Never been asked to do that before. Okay, here goes. I was born like it and I’m cool with it. Does that sound familiar?

He’s laughing now and I know he’s quoted the book, but then again it’s Scott’s and his love story so they’re probably his words in the first place...
Thank you for being here today, Tom.

Thank you for talking with me. It’s been a lot of fun. I was nervous about what you’d ask, but yeah, it’s been good.

Read a teaser, 18+, from Love Unmasked, At the Candy Apple

The club opened and filled to bursting within half an hour. Tom served and danced along behind the bar to the music. He chatted with customers and other servers. The bass thumped, people swayed and spun on the dance floor. Lights glinted on the sequined and glitter sprinkled masks. A man beckoned to him from the end of the bar and Tom went to get the order. The guy wore a half mask. The black velvet covered his cheekbones and his dark hair curled over the forehead giving him a rakish look.

“Vodka and you.” The man leaned forward to speak so that Tom could hear above the music.

A spike of excitement mingled with surprise. This was a new pick up line and from a guy too. Tom took in the width of the man’s shoulders and his muscled chest beneath the white dress shirt. A black tie hung unfastened around the unbuttoned collar of the shirt and the man held his jacket in one hand.
“Ice?” Tom asked and flashed his eyes at the customer. That look was one he used on guys at the gay bar he went to sporadically.

“Mmm—if I can take it from your lips.”

Heat traveled up from Tom’s balls to his stomach. His cock stirred and lifted. This was a definite proposition and against all his usual rules, desire to risk saying yes filled him.

“Coming up.” He turned to get the drink. His heartbeat quickened as he picked up an ice cube and fit it between his lips. It wasn’t straight from the freezer so it didn’t stick, but the cold sent a shiver over him as he brought the vodka to the customer.

He leaned over the bar counter. Tom expected the guy to take the ice with his fingertips and that would have been sexy enough, but he met Tom halfway across the bar in an open-mouthed kiss to suck the ice cube from Tom’s lips.
A sweep of heated desire flew through Tom’s body and his cock hardened. His eyes closed instinctively and a low sound escaped him as his nose touched the man’s cheek just below the velvet mask. A light woody-citrus scent from the man’s after shave filled his head, and the man’s lips touched his sexily. Their masks rubbed together. A shiver went down Tom’s back. His ass clenched. He wanted this guy’s cock in his hands. If the guy asks to meet me, I’ll break my rules and agree. He drew away.

The guy gazed into Tom’s eyes as he crunched the ice.

Mesmerized by the scorching look, Tom waited, unable to tear himself away.
